Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Let us celebrate * the worshipful Nativity of the blessed and glorious Virgin Mary: for she hath obtained the dignity of Motherhood, and yet lost not her maiden purity.

℣.To-day is the Nativity of the holy Virgin Mary.

℟.Whose glorious life illumineth all the churches.

To-day let us celebrate * with due solemnity the Nativity of God’s Mother, the ever Virgin Mary: from whom the Son of the Highest proceeded, alleluia.

Thy Nativity, * O Virgin Mother of God, hath proclaimed joyful tidings unto all the world: for out of thee hath arisen the Sun of righteousness, even Christ our God: who, taking away the curse, hath bestowed a blessing; and confounding death, hath given unto us life everlasting.

We beseech thee, O Lord, bestow upon us thy servants the gift of thy heavenly grace: that as our salvation began by the Childbearing of the blessed Virgin, so this devout solemnity of her Nativity may afford us an increase of peace. Through thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who with thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, liveth and reigneth God, world without end.
