The wise men, * beholding the star, said one to another, This is the sign of a mighty King; forth fare we, and let us seek him: and let us offer him gifts, gold, incense and myrrh, alleluia.

℣.The kings of Tharsis and of the isles shall give presents.
℟.The kings of Arabia and Saba shall bring gifts.

To-day * the Church is joined to her heavenly Bridegroom; because in Jordan Christ hath washed away her offences: the wise men with their offerings hasten to the royal marriage, and the guests are regaled with water made wine, alleluia.
Versicle at Lauds
℣.O worship the Lord, alleluia.
℟.All ye Angels of his, alleluia.
At II Vespers · Magnificat
Now do we celebrate * a holy day adorned by three miracles: today a star led the wise men to the manger; today water was made wine at the wedding feast; today Christ vouchsafed to be baptized of John in Jordan that he might save us, alleluia.
Collect
O God, who by the leading of a star didst manifest thy only-begotten Son to the Gentiles; Mercifully grant that we, who know thee now by faith, may after this life have the fruition of thy glorious Godhead. Through the same thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who with thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, liveth and reigneth God, world without end.
℟.Amen.
