Proper of the feast

Proper to the feast; texts marked Common are from the Common of One Martyr. As said in its commemoration on Tuesday, September 28, 2027.

At I Vespers · Antiphon Common

This is a Martyr * who strove for his Master’s precepts, even unto death: and feared not the words of evil men, forasmuch as he was stablished on a sure foundation.

Versicle at I Vespers Common

℣.Thou hast crowned him with glory and honour, O Lord.

℟.And madest him to have dominion of the works of thy hands.

At Lauds · Antiphon Common

He that hateth his life * in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

Versicle at Lauds Common

℣.The righteous shall flourish like a palm-tree.

℟.And shall spread abroad like a cedar in Libanus.

Collect

O God, who through the victory of martyrdom didst translate blessed Wenceslas from an earthly principality to the glory of heaven: defend us through his prayers from all adversity; and grant us likewise to rejoice in his fellowship. Through thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who with thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, liveth and reigneth God, world without end.

℟.Amen.
